Azadeh Akhlaghi was born in 1978 in Shiraz, Tehran. She studied at RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia. She worked as the assistant of Abbas Kiarostami and Manijeh Hekmat for a few years. she has made several short films but recently she is more interested in staged photography. One of her very interesting projects is called “By an eye witness”.The collection is made out of largely printed photographs that show the images of past events. These events have never been photographed before. She recreated the deaths - whether assassination, torture, accidents, or natural death - as important figures in Iranian history. The deaths of these figures - either politicians, activists, artists, or journalists - all were a turning point in the history .
